Isotopic composition of ice and subglacially precipitated calcite in an Alpine area / M. Lemmens, R.D. (Reginald D.) Lorrain, J. Haren.

Title: Isotopic composition of ice and subglacially precipitated calcite in an Alpine area / M. Lemmens, R.D. (Reginald D.) Lorrain, J. Haren.
Author(s): Lemmens, M.
Lorrain, R. D.
Haren, J.
Date: 1982 [pub.1983]
In: Zeitschrift für Gletscherkunde und Glazialgeologie. (1982 [pub.1983]), Vol. 18(2) (1982 [pub.1983])
Abstract: Survey of ice, meltwater and calcites, formed since 1860 and exposed by retreating of Tsanfleuron glacier, Swiss Alps, suggests that initial water, from which CaCO³ is precipitated by partial freezing, is produced by melting of basal ice layer, not of glacier ice. Implications for isotopic composition of Pleistocene ice sheets and palaeotemperature scale discussed.
