Record #62905:

High-resolution impulse radar measurements for detecting sea ice and current alinement under the Ross Ice Shelf / Rexford M. Morey, Austin Kovacs.

Title: High-resolution impulse radar measurements for detecting sea ice and current alinement under the Ross Ice Shelf / Rexford M. Morey, Austin Kovacs.
Author(s): Morey, Rexford M.
Kovacs, Austin.
Date: 1981.
In: Antarctic Journal of the United States. (1981.), Vol. 16(5) (1981)
Abstract: Objectives of field season in January 1981 were (1) to evaluate feasibility of using high-resolution impulse radar profiling system to detect existence of sea ice on bottom of ice shelf, and (2) to detect preferred horizontal c-axis azimuthal direction of sea-ice crystals, using voltage amplitude of radar reflection. From latter, orientation of current at sea-ice/water interface should be detectable.
