Abstract: Until 1932, maternity service led. One midwife, Sofie Jørgensen, used to go 400 km northwards on tough sled tours. Nurse was installed in 1932. French expedition brought Robert Gessain in 1930s, who carried out valuable research and observations. Early and present hospitals and equipment are described. Sickness statistics are given briefly pp.39 and 40.
