Abstract: Living and working conditions at Amundsen-Scott Station during the Antarctic winter are described, including psychological effects of the polar night, the intense cold, the isolated life of the station wintering party, the living quarters, and the daily housekeeping activities. The food and facilities necessary to sustain the wintering party of 12 to 15 men are listed.
