Record #41632:

Milieu, development and history as seen from the Arctic horizon / Gustav Ränk.

Title: Milieu, development and history as seen from the Arctic horizon / Gustav Ränk.
Author(s): Ränk, Gustav.
Date: 1965.
Publisher: Luleå: Norrbottens Museum
In: Hunting and fishing. Nordic symposium on life in a traditional hunting and fishing milieu in prehistoric times and up to the present day. (1965.),
Abstract: "Milieu" is less compulsive for humans than for specialised animals. Hence even in northern Eurasia there are variations. These exist despite another human characteristic - diffusion. Even northernmost cultures have not stagnated. Starting reindeer nomadism was revolutionary. It could scarcely have developed without some ideas from cattle rearing by other Nordic people. Textiles have also been influenced from outside. Modern technological change is just another, fast, example of historic development.
