| Abstract: | Ice formation here was greater during autumn and first half of 1958 winter than during previous two years. Freezing dates and intensity of ice formation were calculated from relattionships: ice formation depends on heat content and cooling rate of sea, and heat lost by troposphere through radiant heat exchange if compensated by heat loss of water. Agreement between actual and calculated freezing dates suggests that dates and intensity of autumn-winter freezing can be calculated from heat content of eater, which is, in turn, calculated from summer observations of ice conditions. |
