Record #39583:

Primary productivity under sea ice in Antarctic waters. 1. Concentrations and photosynthetic activities of microalgae in the waters of McMurdo Sound, Antarctica / John S. Bunt.

Title: Primary productivity under sea ice in Antarctic waters. 1. Concentrations and photosynthetic activities of microalgae in the waters of McMurdo Sound, Antarctica / John S. Bunt.
Author(s): Bunt, John S.
Date: 1964.
Publisher: Washington, DC :
In: Antarctic Research Series. (1964.), Vol. 1 (1964)
Abstract: Large quantities of microalgae recovered from waters extensively covered with thick sea ice in McMurdo Sound; chlorophyll a concentrations commonly much greater than in waters with relatively weak ice cover at Mawson Station. During 1961-62 and 1962-63 summers, phytoplankton rich in Phaeocystis appeared, coinciding with widespread deterioration of sea ice north of Ross Island.
Notes:

Antarctic Research Series. Vol. 1 :13-26 (1964).

Keywords: 551.32 -- Glaciology.
582.26 -- Algae.
E14 -- Glaciology: biological aspects of ice and snow.
(*881) -- Ross Sea.
