520 3# ‡aGlaciological research on the icecap and glaciers to the north of Lake Hazen in northern Ellesmere Island was one of the main objectives of the Canadian IGY expedition to the area in 1957-1958. The work was concentrated on Gilman Glacier, but surveys extended over the icecap from Clements Markham Inlet in the northeast to Tanquary Fjord in the south-west.
