Record #33718:
Some properties of drifting snow / Malcolm Mellor, Uwe Radok.
Title: | Some properties of drifting snow / Malcolm Mellor, Uwe Radok. |
Author(s): | Mellor, Malcolm. Radok, Uwe. |
Date: | 1960. |
Publisher: | New York: Pergamon Press, Symposium Publications Division, on behalf of the Director of Meteorology, Melbourne, Australia |
In: | Antarctic meteorology : proceedings of the symposium held in Melbourne, February 1959. (1960.), |
Abstract: | Five sets of snow-drift measurements with new snow-traps used for estimates of drift-snow density as a function of height. Observed values at 4 cm substantially larger than theoretical values, indicating different snow drift mechanism near ground, similar to "saltation" described for sand. Saltation drift transport estimated at 10% of total. |
Notes: | In: Antarctic meteorology : proceedings of the symposium held in Melbourne, February 1959 / Commonwealth of Australia. Bureau of Meteorology. |
Keywords: | 539.3 -- Ice, mechanical properties. 551.578.46 -- Snow cover and snow patches. E10 -- Glaciology: snow and avalanches. |
