| Abstract: | Factors affecting the formation of land and sea ice are discussed, and an emperical formula based on Stefan's formula for growth of sea ice, is given for the Soviet Arctic. The application and validity of this formula for the growth of sea ice in the Arctic, Greenland, and Antarctica is illustrated. |
