| Abstract: | Taken from souvenir publication. Has succession of Hans's and son Paul's maps of West coast. Author answers questions of Egede's competence when serving at Vågan, how he improved it before setting sail for Greenland and what he did about it later, including making use of maps coming out in his time. He was probably able to determine latitudes, hence to fix points on coast to some extent during his longe reconnaissances in 1723-24. He also investigated known Norse ruins and found others. |
