| Abstract: | A theory on the movement of ice sheets is proposed, based on experimental and field studies conducted during the second Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1957-58, data of other investigators, and the laws of visco-plastic flow. Differential equations are derived for the dynamic equilibrium of an ice sheet under varying conditions and its flow velocity. Presented at Symposium de Chamonix, 16-24 Sept. 1958. |
