Abstract: | It is proposed that current scientific and military activities in the polar regions are a prelude to the inevitable colonization of the less habitable parts of the earth. Arctic and Antarctic conditions are separately analysed in the light of scientific and technical advances, and predictions are made of progress to be expected by 1970. |
