Record #27209:

Internal temperature of a cold glacier and conclusions therefrom / Joel E. Fisher.

Title: Internal temperature of a cold glacier and conclusions therefrom / Joel E. Fisher.
Author(s): Fisher, Joel E.
Date: 1955.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1955.), Vol. 2(18) (1955)
Abstract: Measurements made in horizontal tunnel driven through glacier on north slope of Monte Rosa, Alps. Internal temperature was --7.78°C, compared with --13.3°C near surface. Suggests that internal heat is geothermal and is indicative of existence of ice at pressure melting point in all cold glaciers.
