Record #27200:

Glaciological observations on Morsárjökull, S.W. Vatnajöjull. Part 2: regime of the glacier, present and past / Jack D. Ives, Cuchlaine A.M. King.

Title: Glaciological observations on Morsárjökull, S.W. Vatnajöjull. Part 2: regime of the glacier, present and past / Jack D. Ives, Cuchlaine A.M. King.
Author(s): Ives, Jack D.
King, Cuchlaine A. M.
Date: 1955.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1955.), Vol. 2(17) (1955)
Abstract: Information concerning supply area of this small outlet glacier was derived from firn profile measured in pit 6 m deep. Conspicuous bulge on medial moraine is, by extrapolation from annual movement, attributed to former glacial recession between 1890 and 1900. This bulge is correlated with discontinuous moraines near head of Skeidarárjökull. Moraines indicating former greater extension of glacier are mentioned and evidence showing recent rapid retreat and thinning of glacier is presented.
