Record #27199:
British Ruwenzori Expedition, 1952. Glaciological observations -- preliminary report / Erik Bergström.
Title: | British Ruwenzori Expedition, 1952. Glaciological observations -- preliminary report / Erik Bergström. |
Author(s): | Bergström, Erik. |
Date: | 1955. |
In: | Journal of Glaciology. (1955.), Vol. 2(17) (1955) |
Abstract: | Included assessment of Pleistocene glaciation and detailed study of late- and post-glacial fluctuations of West Stanley and Elena glaciers. Correlation between photographs taken by earlier expeditions, stratigraphy of lake site excavations and lichenometry provide basis for assessing climatic fluctuations. Stratification in existing glaciers appears to link up with meteorological observations to indicate two annual ablation phases. |
