The glaciological studies of the Baffin Island Expedition, 1950. Part 2: the physics of deglaciation in central Baffin Island / William H. Ward.
Title: | The glaciological studies of the Baffin Island Expedition, 1950. Part 2: the physics of deglaciation in central Baffin Island / William H. Ward. |
Author(s): | Ward, William H. |
Date: | 1952. |
In: | Journal of Glaciology. (1952.), Vol. 2(11) (1952) |
Abstract: | Discusses shearing and ablation of "cold" ice that leads to formation of ablation and end moraines and characteristic form of south-east edge of ice cap are discussed. Appendix by M.E. Hale, p.22-23 on plant succession at edge of ice cap suggests that last stable position of south-east edge occurred about 1860 and has been followed by retreat at average rate of 3 m a⁻¹. |
Notes: | Journal of Glaciology. Vol. 2(11) :9-22 (1952). |
