Record #215508:

Snow depth and snow density at Resolute, Northwest Territories / Richmond W. Longley.

Title: Snow depth and snow density at Resolute, Northwest Territories / Richmond W. Longley.
Author(s): Longley, Richmond W.
Date: 1960.
Publisher: Cambridge: International Glaciological Society
Abstract: Observations of snow depth made at 21 sites at Resolute, Cornwallis Island, twice weekly during winter 1957-58. It is shown that snow depth and water content of snow did not continue to increase during winter as snow fell; rather, strong winds eroded snow surface and increase in depth was irregular and relatively slow. Observations on density of snow cover led to conclusion that attempts to measure density in similar regions with greater accuracy than ±0.05 g cm⁻³ are not warrented.
Notes:

Offprint: Journal of Glaciology. Vol. 3, no. 28.
