| Abstract: | Attempts to analyse Khanty terminology and classification of medvezh'iy songs in Khanty-Mansiyskiy Avtonomnyy Okrug. Suggests that myths about bear origins are characteristic of Mansi and of Ob-Ugrians in general but also that idea of bear as mediator between life and death is intimately connected to Mansi spiritual worldview. |
