Record #214388:

Study of the impact of ice formation in leads upon the sea ice pack mass balance using a new frazil and grease ice parameterization / Alexander V. Wilchinsky, and 3 others.

Title: Study of the impact of ice formation in leads upon the sea ice pack mass balance using a new frazil and grease ice parameterization / Alexander V. Wilchinsky, and 3 others.
Author(s): Wilchinsky, Alexander V.
Date: 2015.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2015.), Vol. 45(8) (2015)
Abstract: Investigates role of frazil ice formation in leads on mass balance of sea ice pack through incorporation of new module into Los Alamos sea ice model (CICE). Performs simulations of sea ice cover in Arctic and Antarctic, and compares to model treating leads as equivalent to open ocean. Results show increase thickness of sea ice in central Arctic, and no change in Antarctic.
