Linking disparate approaches to the study of social norms: an example of northern Siberia / John P. Ziker.

Title: Linking disparate approaches to the study of social norms: an example of northern Siberia / John P. Ziker.
Author(s): Ziker, John P.
Date: 2015.
In: Sibirica. (2015.), Vol. 14(1) (2015)
Abstract: Studies altruistic social norms among Dolgany and Nganasany, drawing on and integrating experimental game theory and semiotic approaches. Demonstrates complementarity of these two methodologies to more fully understand how sharing is promoted over individual self-aggrandisement in communal-resource property regime. Presents results of experimental games conducted in Taymyrskiy AO in 2003, along with analysis of indigenous communication aimed at promoting altruistic social norms.
