Abstract: Discusses resilience and adaptability of Inuit communities in Upernavik district, northern Greenland. Notes that, while Inuit have used traditional and local knowledge to survive climate changes, they are much less able to influence socio-economic institutions. Discusses results of detailed empirical investigations during summer and winter seasons in 2009 and 2011, including interviews with inhabitants in settlements in Upernavik district, and analysis of fishing quotas and other policies.
