Возможные причины эмиссии метана на шельфе морей Восточной Арктики
Title: | Возможные причины эмиссии метана на шельфе морей Восточной Арктики |
Title, transliterated: | Vozmozhnye prichiny ėmissii metana na shelʹfe moreĭ Vostochnoĭ Arktiki / O.A. Anisimov, and 3 others. |
Translated title: | Possible causes of methane release from seas of the eastern Arctic. |
Author(s): | Anisimov, O. A. |
Date: | 2014. |
Language: | Russian. |

Abstract: | Analyses data on methane concentration in water and lower atmosphere over shelf of eastern Arctic seas (Laptev and East Siberian), obtained from marine, terrestrial and satellite observations. Examines possible causes of increased concentrations of methane detected in certain sections in comparison with those from mid-latitudes. Compares two alternative hypotheses for this increase: contemporary variations in sub-aquatic permafrost; and geological causes (tectonic, fault zones and palaeo river beds). Results do not support hypothesis of "methane catastrophe" on shelf of East Arctic seas in foreseeable future. |
