Abstract: | Presents method for calculating ice-wedge volume in late Pleistocene yedoma deposits and Holocene thermokarst basin deposits at four study areas in Siberia and Alaska. Maps ice-wedge polygons and thermokarst mound patterns using high-resolution (0.5 m/pixel) satellite imagery. Supplements this with field observations. Uses GIS-based method to reconstruct relict polygonal networks, and field data to generate three-dimensional subsurface models. Compares results from different areas. |
