Record #213267:
Permafrost in Alpine rock faces from Jotunheimen and Hurrungane, Southern Norway / T. Hipp, B. Etzelmüller, S. Westermann.
Title: | Permafrost in Alpine rock faces from Jotunheimen and Hurrungane, Southern Norway / T. Hipp, B. Etzelmüller, S. Westermann. |
Author(s): | Hipp, T. Etzelmüller, B. Westermann, S. |
Date: | 2014. |
In: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (2014.), Vol. 25(1) (2014) |
Abstract: | Reports data from five temperature loggers installed in permafrost in steep rock walls in Jotunheimen Mountains, Norway, measuring near-surface temperatures from 2009-13. Uses modelling to estimate lower limit and distribution of rock wall permafrost under present-day conditions and with average increase of air temperatures by 2°C. Forecasts extent of future instability and rock slides in rock walls underlain by permafrost. |
