Abstract: Introduces trough-system algorithm which employs mathematical morphology and algebraic topology to represent subscale features of subglacial troughs in topographic generalisation, so effects of troughs on ice flow are retained in ice-dynamic models. Applies algorithm to derive spatial elevation model of Greenland subglacial topography, integrating recently collected measurements of Jakobshavn Isbrae, Helheim, Kangerdlugssuaq and Petermann glacier regions. Applies model to dynamic ice-sheet modelling and sea-level-rise assessment.
