Record #213204:

Mixing variability in the Southern Ocean / Amelie Meyer, and 4 others.

Title: Mixing variability in the Southern Ocean / Amelie Meyer, and 4 others.
Author(s): Meyer, Amelie.
Date: 2015.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2015.), Vol. 45(4) (2015)
Abstract: Uses 914 high-resolution hydrographic profiles from EM-APEX profiling floats to investigate turbulent mixing north of Kerguelen Plateau in Southern Ocean in 2008. Study identifies topographic roughness, current speed and wind speed as the main factors controlling mixing intensity. Also finds enhanced mixing in Antarctic Circumpolar Current frontal region attributed to dissipating internal waves generated by interaction of current and Kerguelen Plateau.
