Abstract: | Describes inexpensive, low-power-consumption surveying system for total ice thickness and surface snow accumulation in Antarctica comprising two types of radar. Uses pulse-compression radar to measure ice thickness, and frequency-modulated continuous wave radar to measure snow/firn layers with high resolution. Describes results of tests at Union Glacier, West Antarctica, in 2010. |
