Record #211903:

Residue analysis of bone-fueled Pleistocene hearths / Barbara A. Crass, and 3 others.

Title: Residue analysis of bone-fueled Pleistocene hearths / Barbara A. Crass, and 3 others.
Author(s): Crass, Barbara A.
Date: 2011.
Publisher: College Station: Texas A & M University Press
In: From the Yenisei to the Yukon : interpreting lithic assemblage variability in Late Pleistocene. (2011.),
Abstract: Discusses characteristics of bone-fuelled fires, based on research at Swan Point, multicomponent site in central Alaska. Compares residues in archaeological record with results of experimental burning. Finds that bone-fuelled fires burn differently from wood fires and produce little ash. Notes that addition of dung in experimental fires changes burning pattern, providing different signature.
