Record #211857:

Characterization of winter foraging locations of Adélie penguins along the western Antarctic Peninsula, 2001-2002 / Eric S. Erdmann, and 3 others.

Title: Characterization of winter foraging locations of Adélie penguins along the western Antarctic Peninsula, 2001-2002 / Eric S. Erdmann, and 3 others.
Author(s): Erdmann, Eric S.
Date: 2011.
In: Understanding the linkages between Antarctic food webs and the environment : a synthesis of Southern Ocean GLOBEC studies. (2011.), Vol. 58(13-16) (2011)
Abstract: Tests hypothesis that winter foraging ecology of major top predator in waters off western Antarctic Peninsula, Adélie penguin, is constrained by oceanographic features related to physiography of region. Uses satellite telemetry data collected in austral winters 2001 and 2002 to characterise individual penguin foraging locations in relation to bathymetry, sea ice variability within pack ice, and wind velocity and divergence (as proxy for potential cracks and leads). Also explores differences between males and females.
