Record #211805:

Lagrangian simulation of transport pathways and residence times along the western Antarctic Peninsula / Andrea Piñones, and 3 others.

Title: Lagrangian simulation of transport pathways and residence times along the western Antarctic Peninsula / Andrea Piñones, and 3 others.
Author(s): Piñones, Andrea.
Date: 2011.
In: Understanding the linkages between Antarctic food webs and the environment : a synthesis of Southern Ocean GLOBEC studies. (2011.), Vol. 58(13-16) (2011)
Abstract: Uses numerical Lagrangian particle tracking simulations to investigate relative contribution of ocean circulation in producing areas where marine mammals and other predators concentrate to produce biological hot spots along continental shelf of western Antarctic Peninsula (wAP). Circulation distributions used were obtained from Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) configured for wAP. Biological hot spots at Crystal Sound, Laubeuf Fjord and off Alexander Island corresponded to longest particle residence times and may reflect plankton aggregation.
