Abstract: Considers question of absorption of solar radiation in hummocks. Analyses results of observations carried out at drift stations SP-35 and SP-36 as part of expedition Arctic - 2008 on board icebreaker Akademik Fedorov and in North Pole area of Arctic basin at ice base Barneo. Establishes that hummocky masses absorbs 20-60% more radiation than flat sea ice.
