Record #211581:

A view of Antarctic ice-sheet evolution from sea-level and deep-sea isotope changes during the Late Cretaceous-Cenozoic / K.G. Miller, and 6 others.

Title: A view of Antarctic ice-sheet evolution from sea-level and deep-sea isotope changes during the Late Cretaceous-Cenozoic / K.G. Miller, and 6 others.
Author(s): Miller, K. G.
Date: 2008.
Publisher: Washington, D.C.: National Academies Press
In: Antarctica : a keystone in a changing world. Proceedings of the 10th International Symposium on Antarctic Earth Sciences, Santa Barbara, California, August 26 to September 1, 2007. (2008.),
Abstract: Reviews interpretations of Antarctic ice-volume changes using sea-level and oxygen isotopic records. Argues for presence of small- to medium-size ephemeral ice sheets in greenhouse world of Late Cretaceous to Eocene. Suggests Eocene-Oligocene transition represents beginning of icehouse with ice sheet that reached coast for first time. Reviews evidence for nature and timing of palaeoceanographic changes at this time and presents comparisons of global deep-water changes resulting from glaciation.
