Record #211507:

Effects of substrate differences on water availability for Arctic lichens during the snow-free summers in the High Arctic glacier foreland / Takeshi Inoue, and 5 others.

Title: Effects of substrate differences on water availability for Arctic lichens during the snow-free summers in the High Arctic glacier foreland / Takeshi Inoue, and 5 others.
Author(s): Inoue, Takeshi.
Date: 2014.
In: Polar Science. (2014.), Vol. 8(4) (2014)
Abstract: Investigates photosynthetic activity and water relationships of five lichen species attached to different substrates on glacier foreland near Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard (79°N) during snow-free season in 2009 and 2010. Finds that different species of Arctic lichens experience different water availabilities owing to their substrates and/or morphological characteristics. Water availability affects length of photosynthetic active periods.
