Abstract: Presents overview of factors determining urban sustainability in Russian Arctic. Draws on research at network conference in May 2013 at George Washington University. Identifies two main drivers affecting development of Russian Arctic cities: resource extraction and climate change. Examines Russian policy responses to these changes. Charts new research directions using collaborative methodologies. Addresses resource development, international cooperation, urban design, climate change, policy-making, diversification, demography and indigenous issues.
