| Abstract: | Presents biogenic opal flux records from two deep-sea cores taken in 2007 at sites in Scotia Sea, covering last glacial cycle at decadal scale resolution. Introduces new opal estimation methods derived from sediment colour, wet bulk density, Si/Ti-count ratio and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. These records indicate bioproductivity changes in Southern Ocean, strongly influenced by past sea ice distribution and summer sea surface temperature changes. |
