Record #211148:

The whale savers / Doug Struck.

Title: The whale savers / Doug Struck.
Author(s): Struck, Doug.
Date: 2014.
Publisher: [Boston, MA]: Christian Science Monitor
Abstract: Account of problems faced by North American researchers in attempts to save North Atlantic right whale (Eubalaena glacialis), population of which now stands at approximately five hundred. Chief problem is increase in commercial activity including oil and gas exploration. This involves constant use of underwater seismic cannons, which seriously affects right whale communication and feeding and occurs on direct annual migration route. However, right whales are recognised as valuable indicator of general vitality of ocean flora and fauna and their decline seems to have been arrested.
