North-north and north-south health disparities: a circumpolar perspective / T. Kue Young.

Title: North-north and north-south health disparities: a circumpolar perspective / T. Kue Young.
Author(s): Young, T. Kue.
Date: 2014.
Publisher: Edmonton: University of Alberta Press
In: Aboriginal populations : social, demographic and epidemiological perspectives. (2014.),
Abstract: Discussion of research into key health indicators of various regions in circumpolar North, with particular reference to Canadian experience. Identifies disparities between north and south and within north itself following research results that showed substantial differences between attitudes of nation-states. In Scandinavia, health issues in northern regions and elsewhere are virtually identical whereas in Greenland and Nunuvut disparities are substantial. In Alaska, aboriginals fare much worse than state average. Northern regions of Russia are at particularly high risk although overall health in Russia is of lower standard than that of other European countries.
