Abstract: Reports approval by Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans for new management system for beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) harvest in Nunavik. Under new system, developed by Nunavik Marine Region Wildlife Board, there will be no seasonal closures. Certain areas (Nottingham Island, Salisbury Island, Mucalic Estuary and Little Whale River Estuary) will remain closed to beluga harvesting at all times, and harvesting of beluga calves and females with calves is prohibited.
