Title: | Shifts in fox den occupancy in the greater Prudhoe Bay area, Alaska / Alice A. Stickney, Tim Obritschkewitsch, Robert M. Burgess. |
Author(s): | Stickney, Alice A. Obritschkewitsch, Tim. Burgess, Robert M. |
Date: | 2014. |
In: | Arctic. (2014.), Vol. 67(2) (2014) |
Abstract: | Reports result of fox (Vulpes spp.) monitoring programme in greater Prudhoe Bay area, Arctic Alaska, from 2005-12. Programme included annual surveys of 31-48 fox dens within 2 km of road system. In 2005, 2006 and 2008, Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) dens outnumbered those of red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) but, from 2010 onwards, reverse was true. Discusses possible influence of anthropogenic food sources on increase in red fox numbers. |
