Abstract: Compares William Richardson's detailed description of Labrador Inuit snow house with that of George Cartwright, British merchant adventurer whom Richardson visited at his home near mouth of Charles River, Labrador, in 1771. Argues that Richardson's information derives from Cartwright, and should thus be regarded as secondary.
