| Abstract: | Presents history of International Council for the Exploration of the Sea's Advisory Committee on Fisheries Management (ACFM). Describes context for demand for scientific advice in north-east Atlantic (including areas adjacent to Arctic Ocean) and how it developed in latter half of 20th century. Also describes internal and external views of ACFM and considers lessons that can be learned from history of AFCM in terms of continuing discussions on role of scientific advice. |
