Abstract: Examines story cycle about "mificheckiye lyudoyedy" (mythical cannibals) recorded from Oduly people (Forest Yukagiry from Upper Kolyma) at end of 19th to middle of 20th century by Jochelson. Notes similarity of theme with tale of "Mal'enkaya Starushka" (The Little Old Lady) folktale, which is widespread in south-east and north Asia. Analyses seven examples from story cycle.
