| Abstract: | Discusses effect of oil industry on land use as part of International Polar Year (IPY)-endorsed project carried out by Norwegian Polar Institute and Association of Nenets People (Yasavey) called Monitoring of development of traditional indigenous land use areas in Nenetskiy Avtonomnyy Okrug (MODIL-NAO). Based on questionnaire survey among reindeer herders and from satellite imagery. Lists seven key findings of study and highlights GIS database. Maps settlements, oil and gas activities, infrastructure and traditional land use such as reindeer-breeding, fishing and hunting. |
