Abstract: | Describes analysis of simultaneous full-depth microstructure measurements of turbulence, and finestructure measurements of velocity and density, to investigate relationship between turbulence and internal wave field in Antarctic Circumpolar Current. Data reveals systematic near-bottom overprediction of turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rate by finescale parameterisation in certain locations, characterised by large near-bottom flow speeds and elevated topographic roughness. Uses observations from Southern Ocean Finestructure campaign. |
