Abstract: Introduces new drag parameterisation for flow over ice, deducing neutral form drag coefficients from properties of ice cover such as ice concentration, vertical extent and area of ridges, freeboard and floe draft, and size of floes and melt ponds. Incorporates these coefficients into Los Alamos Sea Ice Model to show their influence. Discusses implications of new form drag formulation for spinup or spindown of Arctic Ocean.
