Abstract: Presents International Polar Year (IPY) project "Reindeer Herders Vulnerability Networks Study (EALÁT)", which was initiated in 2008 by Saami University College in Kautokeino, Norway and International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR) to assess vulnerability of reindeer herding in key aspects of natural and human environments. Explores traditional knowledge and unique management strategies of reindeer herders for protection of pastures, observation of changes and rational use of natural resources. Looks at adaptive capacity of such pastoralism to climate change.
