Record #209342:

Antarctic weather and climate / M.J. Rubin.

Title: Antarctic weather and climate / M.J. Rubin.
Author(s): Rubin, M. J.
Date: 1964.
Publisher: Cambridge, MA: M.I.T. Press
In: Research in geophysics. (1964.), Vol. 2. Solid earth and interface phenomena.
Abstract: Discusses: chemical constituents of air and snow; climate controls (solar radiation regime due to polar location of Antarctica, distribution of land and water in high latitudes of Southern Hemisphere, and altitude and surface conditions of continent); heat and water budget; circulation patterns; and climate. Defines five main climate zones: high Antarctic plateau; slope; coast (ice coast and barrier, outer glacial shelves, inner glacial shelves, oasis, and Antarctic Peninsula); drifting ice (Antarctic and sub-Antarctic); and open water. Includes maps with isopleths of annual accmulation, temperature, and pressure.
