Abstract: Recommends use of information technology to determine environmental consequences of technogenic or anthropogenic accidents based on experience in Sakha Republic (Yakutiya). Use of geographic information systems technology permits development of preventive systems and assists choice of optimum location for industrial facilities. Worst damage is caused by gas pipeline accidents, forest fires, and floods.
