Abstract: | Considers Lagrangian versus Eulerian isopycnal mixing processes in high-resolution ocean model generating non-zonal and non-parallel jets which can be strongly influenced by topography. Examines depth dependence of Lagrangian isopycnal diffusivities and relation to longitude; estimates Eulerian diffusivities from bin-averaged eddy tracer fluxes that are comparable to Lagrangian isopycnal diffusivities. Uses Southern Ocean of 1/10° Parallel Ocean Program model. |
